Hi! Just wondering if anyone else is/or has recently been/the process of exercising, fitness, and/or dieting. Let me know what you did/ or do.
I am a short girl, and my clothes tell me I am WAY too fat. It seemed as if it happened so fast, but I think it's been coming on all summer. I waited until fall to embark on a full diet plan because my husband is a Great cook, and I don't want to miss his treats (He grills out.) Me, I am a micorwaver, or a stir fryer, usually. I HATE cooking anymore. As for exercise, I know what to do, I just need to DO IT! I use to be an exercise fanatic (almost bulemic). I use to run 40-50 miles a week. Due to back surgery, a neck surgery, and numerous foot surgeries, I don't do any of that anymore. I have started to exercise slowly, because otherwise with my metabolism I won't lose ANY weight just by dieting. (Also,it is slowed by the fact my small frame doesn't need many calories to just maintain a normal weight.) Additional slowdowns are: .menopause, not smoking (20+ yr. now), and the fact that I am a chronic pain patient, so I can't exercise like I ONCE did.) But I had gotten to the point of not even moving enough! I know better! I can do better than that! So, if you have any success hints of your own, please pass them on, I'll be ever so grateful.

Merry

Merry,
I recently took off 30 pounds but I cheated to do it. I went through a weight loss clinic; eating four protein shakes a day, a small lunch of 2 oz of protein and a salad, and a regular size dinner (6 oz protein, veggies, salad). I know what you mean about the metabolism slowing down as we mature. I'm 47 and the weight is a lot harder to get off then when I was in my 30s. I vigorously walk/jog on the treadmill for thirty minutes five days a week and walk the dog for an hour seven days a week.
Now that I'm maintaining my weight; I still pretty much eat the same I did for weight loss, I just eased up a bit on calories.
Can you go to physical therapy to ask them to work out an exercise program for you to help you with your neck problems, etc?
Good luck; I'm an expert on losing weight; feel free to ask me if you need help getting started on what to eat, etc.

Hi Mer...here's a link to Coffe Talk, Nancy's journal. She started a group there for those who want to get together through journals for diet & fitness.
I am starting (well I am always starting!) this week.
